Gary Gibson Takes Cooper Tires Lites Win at Road Atlanta
CORE autosport driver, Gary Gibson won the first of two Cooper Tires Prototype Lites races at Road Atlanta after some hard fought battles with several drivers. At one time CORE autosport drivers were running 2nd, 3rd & 4th in the early stages of the race. Anthony Nicolosi took the lead and seemed to be pulling away. Then, newly crowned champion Charlie Shears began to catch Nicolosi only to have problems that slowed him and Gibson got past him from third. Jon Brownson was climbing through the field and passed Jonathan Bennett for 4th, Charlie Shears and Anthony Nicolosi. Brownson ended up on the gearbox of Gary Gibson who had to turn up the heat in order to stay in front in the final laps.
At one point there were four cars abreast, flying into turn one. There was bumping and scraping. Just a typically awesome Cooper Tires Lites race. Congratulations to Gary and all of the drivers!
