CORE autosport driver, Charlie Shears clinched the 2010 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites championship with his third win of the 2010 season at Mosport International Raceway in Canada as well as another podium finish for third place in the following day’s race. The combined finishes make it mathematically impossible for any other driver to beat his points total.
“I can’t tell you how much this means to me”, said Charlie. “I’ve been chasing this for a few years now and I finally had everything go my way.” “From the opening rounds in Sebring in March, the car has been awesome”. “I have to thank my team, especially Kenny Mosby who’s kept my car in top form and Mike Davies who’s kept me in top form”. “CORE autosport came through for me”. “The entire team works hard to make sure I have everything I need to win”, said Shears.
“It’s been an eventful year and it has not always been easy, but Charlie earned this championship”, said Jonathan Bennett, founder of CORE autosport as well as one of the team drivers”. “He has been consistently fast, scored points when he needed to and drove cleanly to the championship”, said Bennett “He deserves this and I’m glad that CORE autosport could help him attain this success.”
“The team put in an enormous amount of effort over the course of the season”, said Morgan Brady, Team Manager. “Thankfully, our efforts have translated to results on track”. “All the credit goes to our drivers and the crew that put in some long hours to get where we are”. “Charlie drove fantastic this year and he is a great champion”.
“I also want to thank my sponsors, US Builders and SDI Realty”, said Shears. “I also want to thank IMSA and especially Cooper Tires for sponsoring the series”. “Even when most racing series’ entries are down, I think we grew the number of drivers entered this year”. “A big part of that is due to Cooper Tires’ involvement.”
